I got an email from Amazon today saying that they were changing some things in their API. Aside from changing the name of the services from “Amazon Web Service” to “Product Advertising API”, by August 15th, they are requiring that users of the API send the previously optional HMAC signature when authenticating. What does this mean to you?
This signature is created using your “Secret Access Key”, which is available on their website in your account details. From their website: “Your Shared Access Key is secret, and should only be known by you and AWS.”
This means that in order to use the Product Advertising API (Amazon Web Services), you will need to sign up for an AWS account. No more is the zeroconf album art downloading in programs like Exaile and Amarok.
Time to move to Last.FM for album art.

Will Exaile! do that?
Exaile 0.3 already has a plugin for it.
Where do you get the plugin for Last.FM album art?? I cannot find it.
It comes with 0.3
Is the problem with the album art being croped at the top of the player fixed in 0.3?
I didn't know that such a problem existed.
Yeah the album art is croped at the top and bottom if it is square (which most are), strangely it doesn't happen in the pop-up notification box.
Have you posted a bug about it?
Sort of it's part of this bug report:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/exaile/+bug/350957
Should I open a separate one?
Open a separate bug. Include screenshots and examples, we probably just missed that as a bug report as it was the last line in a feature request.
Done also added another report for storing lyrics locally. Thank you for all your hard work.
will a last fm plugin be made available for version 0.2.11 (that's the version in the debian lenny repos)?
excellent software, i've tried all of the music management stuff (banshee, amarok, rythembox, songbird, etc..., yours is by far the best so far. thanks for all you've done.

sorry for the double post - frickenfrackin refresh button....
No, no work is being done on the 0.2.x branch. It is complete and considered stable. All work is being done on the 0.3.x branch.
> It comes with 0.3
I must be missing something... I have 0.3 and I don't see a last.fm plugin for album art.
Cool. I find last.fm's cover database miles better than Amazon's.
Ok, this new signature requirement is working in the latest bzr revision.
Amazon cover searching works again, you are just required to sign up for a free AWS account on Amazon's site.
Here's a link that details the new Amazon signing that you're talking about in this post:
